Our Foundations - Founder Ben S. Cairo Sr.
My experience in this industry began with a structural engineer in the Midwest in 1943. Five years later I arrived in California to begin employment with Soule' teel Company of Los Angeles, a firm that designed and constructed aluminum curtainwall, pre‑engineered metal buildings and reinforcing steel for the construction industry.
In 1957 a high market demand for economical industrial buildings created the opportunity to open a second office in San Diego. I became general manager of the branch and participated in its dramatic growth over the years.
In 1969 1 left my position with the company to begin a new venture by incorporating our existing construction company under the name of Engineered Structures.
Although our method of operation has remained the same, we recently changed our name to Cairo Construction. My sons have joined the firm and we feel Cairo Construction Company stands for the personal attention and quality work our clients receive. Our specialty is commercial, industrial, low-rise office and metal building construction. We are proud of the buildings we construct and I am happy to report we still do business in the personal hands-on style which has brought us success over the years and will continue to grow with the new generation
Eventually, I became President of the construction company which was comprised of a well-balanced staff of prominent builders, experienced in all phases of construction of commercial and industrial structures.
